The Pigeon Has Landed. Episode 2
The Duckrockers are ready to rock – except that Michael dances like a white boy, Sefa’s got swagger but very little skill, and Albert’s moves are all in his head. Stan schools them up on the basics of breakdancing … till scary Auntie Sue kicks his “gang” out of the garage. So, they decide to practice where bopping was born - on the streets … or at least in Grey Lynn Park, where they face off with the Flaw Rubberz, an actual dance crew from Mt Albert, intent on invading Duckrocker turf. When the new rivals lay claim to their much-loved land, Sefa challenges them to a showdown at the city’s biggest bopping comp. Faced with the reality of performing in public, Albert suggests they throw in the towel – after all, if the cops suspected them of starting the riot, they’d have tracked them down by now. When Stan storms off, angry and dejected, Al does some late-night soul searching and has a change of heart. The boys strategize to secure breakdancing basics, recruiting Leilani, Michael’s brother Sione, and even Jesus in an effort to become Grey Lynn’s baddest boppers. But these deals come with special conditions, one of them called Lupe – Leilani’s tough-talking cousin, who proves that girls can do anything as she completes the fledgling crew.
