Duane Wichman Evans Jr
As Michael
Michael gets that he’s never going to be the brightest one in his very large family so, until now, he’s banked on his sporting prowess to be The Man. This has worked very well for him and there are already whispered discussions that he will be quite the catch in a few years. But Michael is quietly evolving a deep, dark secret he is keeping from everyone. Because Michael is fast losing his interest in sport. In fact, Michael is actively worried about playing sport now because he is thinking about turning to modeling as a career and he worries that one bad tackle and one broken nose will end that career beore it starts and scupper his dream of becoming the first Polynesian Milky Bar Kid. Fueling Michael’s new ambition is the fact that Grey Lynn in the 1980’s is changing and a whole heap of palagis are moving in and secretly Michael loves listening to their music and all the cool stuff they have and the cool clothes they wear. And then, one day, the cute blonde girl who moved in next door told him he was beautiful and he should be a model. And sometimes that is all it takes to set a boy on the way to becoming The Man he will be.
About Duane (20): Duane unsuspectingly had his first onscreen debut at the age of three when he was cast in a public message
commercial about cervical cancer directed by Sima Urale, who is, coincidentally, one of the directors on Duckrockers. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength and has accrued an impressive list of both local and international credits to his name including the role is as Rotxo in James Cameron’s Avatar sequels, the award-winning short, film Ebony Society and feature film Fantail, a young Billy T James in the TV Film about NZ entertainer and comic - Billy, the lead roles in the short films Possum, the (multi) International award winning I’m Going to Mum’s,
for which he also won ‘The Best Male Actor Award’ at the Wairoa Film Festival, and a supporting role in Tree. He has featured on Power Rangers - Ninja Steel and the Netflix series The New Legends of Monkey.
